This course will examine famous trials in American history that reflect major social changes, cultural conflicts and political struggles from the late 19th century through the 20th century. Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify major trials that are of continuing importance in American culture and politics.
  2. Identify important historical forces (social, cultural, economic, political) that were at work before, during and after the trial.
  3. Explain the place of the trial in the context of American history.
