(OMAT) OS - Mathematics
3 credits

This course is designed for students who have had some algebra. Topics include: algebraic expression and real numbers; linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables; quadratic equations; polynomials and factoring; graphs of basic functions; systems of linear equations; and applications. This course has been exempted from the requirements of the Writing Across the Curriculum policy. Prerequisite: Challenge examination or MATH 1000. Frequency: Every Fall and Winter. (Description Last Updated: Summer I 2016 (201650))

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the solution sets for linear equations, linear inequalities, systems of linear equations, systems of linear inequalities, and polynomials.
  2. Produce graphical representations of these solution sets.
  3. Explain how to use linear equations, inequalities, and systems to describe real-world applications.
  4. Use methods for solving linear equations, inequalities and systems to analyze real-world problems.
