This course allows students to study medical characteristics of common disabilities and methods for designing appropriate sport and exercise programs. Clinical experiences with athletes/physically active individuals with disabilities will be available during the semester. Frequency: Every Fall and Winter. - Apply terminology used in the physical education of persons with disabilities.
- Analyze and discuss the pertinent legislation governing general and physical education for special populations.
- Develop appropriate programs and modifications of skills that allow special populations to participate in sport and physical education.
- Identify the etiology and prognosis for various neurological, orthopedic, metabolic, and sensory disorders that effect acquisition of sport and physical education skills.
