This course is designed to assist the student with measurement and interpretation of health and fitness related factors necessary for prescribing preventative and rehabilitative exercise programs. Focus areas include cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and risk stratification. Includes a laboratory component. Prerequisite: ATTR 2400. - Interpret the procedures and results associated with various testing and evaluation procedures used in exercise and sport science.
- Analyze and discuss the application and need for administering a stress test prior to prescribing an exercise program.
- Analyze and discuss normal and abnormal results for various evaluation procedures used in exercise prescription, including but not limited to EKG, body composition, physical fitness assessment, etc.
- Properly administer and review fitness assessments according to national standards such as the American College of Sports Medicine.
