This course will provide students with the basic concepts of health, such as nutritional issues, physiological concerns, and wellness screening. Students will also gain an appreciation for lifetime fitness activities and an understanding of how community programs provide necessary health services to the general public. - Describe the nutritional guidelines for a healthy diet and the concept of caloric energy expenditure and balance.
- Describe the benefits and harmful effects of supplementing nutrients in the diet.
- Describe personal health habits including but not limited to: hygiene, diet, nutrition, weight control, proper amount of sleep, stress management, the effects of alcohol, tobacco, legal and illegal drugs, and infectious disease transmission and prevention.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current research in the field of Health and Fitness.
