B.S. in Criminal Justice

In the rapidly expanding fields of law enforcement, courtroom services, corrections, and Homeland Security, a criminal justice major has become a popular course of study. The criminal justice major at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences provides students with a comprehensive overview of the criminal justice system and insight into how its various components interact.

The major integrates and applies knowledge of law enforcement practice and procedure, law, and governmental and correctional policies to issues affecting criminal justice and society. Students gain insight into social systems that influence attitudes toward punishment, rehabilitation, and treatment. This study of criminology—the theoretical basis of criminal justice—provides insight into human motivations and the forces behind aberrant and destructive behaviors.

The criminal justice major is offered during the day and evening on NSU's main campus.

Consider Selecting a Minor

Pursuing a minor can deepen your knowledge in a discipline related to your major or enable you to explore a field outside your major area of study and diversify your skills. Speak with a faculty member in your program to determine which minor(s) can support your academic, professional, and personal goals.

Dual Admission Option

Are you planning to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in a related field of study? Consider NSU's Dual Admission Program, which enables qualified undergraduates at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences to secure early acceptance into one of the university's competitive graduate and professional degree programs.
