Description

Family therapy is an interdisciplinary field focused on the development and improvement of family relationships. It combines theory and practice from sociology, education, business, law, anthropology, social work, and psychology, among other disciplines. The NSU master of science (M.S.), offered by the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, prepares students for careers in social service agencies, education, government and policy organizations, private and public consulting groups, and academia.

Requirements

The Dual Admission Program in family therapy is open to both freshmen and transfer students. Freshman students must have a 3.0 high school GPA and a combined 1000 SAT score. Transfer students must have an entering 3.0 GPA. Candidates may pursue any undergraduate major, however psychology is preferred. A preadmission interview may be required.

The Dual Admission Program in family therapy normally requires four years of undergraduate study and 19 months to complete the master’s degree.
