Elizabeth Swann, Ph.D., ATC, LAT, director of the Athletic Training Education Program
Originally from Burbank, California, Elizabeth Swann received her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Texas State University in San Marcos. She obtained her Master of Arts in Sports Management from the University of Texas at Austin and a doctorate in administration and teaching at the University of Southern Mississippi. Elizabeth also serves as a column editor for Athletic Therapy Today, a journal for certified athletic trainers and athletic therapists that publishes reports on sports-health-care techniques and reviews of current research and issues in the athletic training community.
Megan Rittler, ABD, ATC, LAT, assistant professor
Megan Rittler started her athletic training career at Salisbury University for her bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she then attended Virginia Tech for graduate school, receiving a degree in health promotions and sports performance. After completion of her master’s degree, she worked for several years with the women’s basketball team at Virginia Tech. Megan is in the final stages of completion for a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech as well.
Pradeep R. Vanguri, Ph.D., ATC, assistant professor/clinical coordinator
Pradeep Vanguri is an assistant professor in the Division of Math, Science, and Technology and serves as the clinical coordinator for the Athletic Training Education Program. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC) in Exercise Science and his Master of Science degree in Education from North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC). Upon completing his graduate work, he served as assistant professor and assistant athletic trainer in the Athletic Training Education Program at Barton College (Wilson, NC) in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Instructional Leadership at The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) where he also served as graduate assistant in the undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program. His current research interests include faculty development, pedagogy, and clinical instruction.

Larry Starr, M.Ed., ATC, CSCS, USPT, LAT, assistant athletic director/sports medicine After three years as assistant athletic trainer at Ohio University, where he received bachelor’s and master's degrees in education, Larry Starr went on to serve as head athletic trainer with the Cincinnati Reds. After spending 21 years with Cincinnati, Larry made a transition to the Florida Marlins. He was the Marlins’ head athletic trainer for nine years before coming to Nova Southeastern University in August 2002. |

Jason Palmateer, ATC, LAT, head athletic trainer Jason Palmateer received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida Atlantic University and served two years as an intern with the Florida Marlins. He worked in professional baseball from 1999-2003 with the Florida Marlins and Chicago Cubs. |

Dustin Gatens, M.S., ATC, LAT, assistant athletic trainer Originally from southern New Jersey, Dustin Gatens received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Temple University in Philadelphia. After receiving his BOC certification in August 2004, Dustin pursued a master's degree in advanced athletic training/sports medicine from Florida International University. While at FIU, Dustin served as the head athletic trainer for Hallandale High School in Hallandale Beach, Florida. |

Amy Reckard, M.S., ATC, LAT, assistant athletic trainer Originally from Colorado, Amy Reckard joined NSU as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2006. She received her Master of Science degree from Florida International University in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2004. |

Zevon Stubblefield M.S., ATC, LAT, assistant athletic trainer Zevon Stubblefield received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida, where he volunteered with NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He received his Master of Science degree from Florida International University. Zevon most recently worked as the head athletic trainer for Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida. |
